David Kruse is a partner whose practice focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate law at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. David provides strategic advice on many of Canada's largest and most complex asset and share transactions. He has extensive experience working with Canada's top competition law practice on divestment work in relation to regulatory requirements and effectively completing complex transactions. David also regularly advises foreign companies on establishing and structuring their Canadian operations. His experience includes structuring and negotiating various domestic and cross-border commercial arrangements, including shareholder, partnership and commercial agreements. Recent transactions include advising Johnson Electric on its $800-million purchase of Stackpole, Holcim on its US$50-billion merger with Lafarge and related divestitures, Suncor on the sale of its 50 per cent interest in Pioneer Energy to Parkland, Safeway on its $5.8-billion sale of Canada Safeway to Sobeys and BCE and Rogers on their $1.1-billion acquisition of 75 per cent of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment.
