Ivanhoe Canmbridge Purchases Metrotown Centre

Ivanhoe Cambridge completed the purchase of Metrotown Centre in Burnaby, B.C. from Manulife Financial for $143 million on January 21, 2002. Ivanhoe Cambridge plans to integrate the 936,386 square foot retail and office property with Metropolis at Metrotown, an adjacent mixed-use complex, which it also owns. The combined property will be the largest shopping centre in B.C.

Ivanhoe Cambridge was represented in-house by John Comery, director, legal affairs and assistant secretary; he was assisted by Stikeman Elliott’s David Gillanders, Susan Lloyd and John Paton in Vancouver on real estate matters, Francine Matte, Q.C., in Montreal, Lawson Hunter, Q.C., and Adam Kalbfleisch in Toronto on competition matters.
