The Honourable Thomas Cromwell joins Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s ranks as a distinguished counsel advising on litigation in both Ottawa and Vancouver. He served on the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) for almost eight years, retiring in September 2016. Prior to his elevation to the SCC, Cromwell sat on the Nova Scotia Court of Appeal. His reasoning for the appeals court in R. v. Marshall and R. v. Bernard was applied in the landmark Tsilhqot’in Nation v. British Columbia case, in which the Court clarified the test for Aboriginal title over non-treaty lands.
