CANADA - Newmont Mining Corp. of the US definitively agreed to acquire the entire share capital of Goldcorp Inc., a Vancouver-based gold mining company, for a total CAD $13.218 bil (USD $9. 965 bil), in a stock swap transaction, via scheme of arrangement. Newmont offered CAD $0.027 (USD $0.02) and 0. 328 Newmont common shares per Goldcorp share held. Based on Newmont's closing stock price of CAD $46.265 (USD $34.88) on 11 January 2019, the last full trading day prior to the announcement, each Goldcorp share was valued at CAD $15. 202 (USD $11.461). Upon completion, Newmont and Goldcorp shareholders were to own 65% and 35% interest in the merged entity, respectively.
