A municipally controlled corporation (wholly owned by the City of Wetaskiwin) and Graham Capital formed a partnership to implement the $60 million financing in the Wetaskiwin wastewater treatment plant project in the City of Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
This project was implemented using the new Municipal Asset Partnership approach from Graham Capital Inc., which is a unique project approach allowing municipalities to retain ownership of their assets.
Graham and Aquatera Utilities Inc. were selected to provide the construction and long-term operations and maintenance services, respectively. Construction is slated to commence in May 2022 and to be completed at the end of 2023.
McCarthy Tétrault LLP acted for the finance parties with a team led by Samantha Cunliffe and Liezl Behm and included Kean Silverthorn.
