French digital identity technology company ActivCard, SA recently acquired Ottawa-based biometrics company Ankari Inc. ActivCard is a leading provider of smart cards and digital identity products and technology. Ankari produces hardware and software that provide organizations with the ability to verify user access through the use of passwords, digital certificates, security tokens, smart cards and biometrics. The US$18 million all cash deal was announced by ActivCard on November 14, 2001.
