On May 17, 2002, Amcor Limited of Australia, the world’s fourth-largest packaging company, acquired Tobepal S.A., the flexible-packaging and polyethylene film extrusion operations of the Tobepal Group of Spain. While the acquisition price was not disclosed, Amcor announced that the purchase represents an earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization multiple of 6.2 times the last 12 months’ earnings.
