On July 1, 2002, Amcor Limited of Melbourne, Australia completed the purchase from Schmalbach-Lubeca of Ratingen, Germany of its international PET and White Cap closure business for US$1.56 billion. The transaction involved the purchase of 58 subsidiaries located in 26 countries. Amcor is a leading global packaging company with operations throughout Australasia, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Schmalbach-Lubeca AG, a portfolio company of Allianz Capital Partners, is a leading international packaging producer.
