BCE and Ameritech

BCE Inc. and Ameritech Corporation formed a strategic partnership on May 31, 1999. Under the terms of the strategic partnership, Ameritech Corporation invested $5. 1 bn. for a 20% interest in the new parent corporation of Bell Canada. BCE retains an 80% interest in the new parent corporation. Tax advice was provided to BCE Inc. and Bell Canada by Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt. Partners Andrew Kingissepp and S. Firoz Ahmed were assisted by associates Kimberley Wharram and Dov Begun. Corporate advice was provided to BCE Inc. and Bell Canada by Jean-Paul Bisnaire, Timothy Moran, Jennifer Toone and Richard Fullerton of Davies, Ward & Beck. Ameritech retained Tory Tory DesLauriers & Binnington whose team was comprised of James C. Baillie, Q. C. , Stephen Marshall, Stephen Richardson, Judith Harris and Michael McDonald.
