U.K.-based Bookham Technology plc acquired, on November 8, 2002, certain assets relating to the optical components business of Canadian-based Nortel Networks Corporation. The value of the deal is confidential. Under the terms of the agreement, Nortel Networks sold its transmitter and receiver business located in Paignton and Harlow, U.K., and in Ottawa, Canada, and its pump laser and amplifiers business located in Paignton, U.K., Zurich, Switzerland and Poughkeepsie, New York. Nortel Networks Limited, a subsidiary of Nortel, entered into a supply agreement with Bookham.
