On February 1, 2011, CAE USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CAE Inc. (“CAE”), acquired RTI International's (“RTI”) Technology Assisted Learning (“TAL”) business unit. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
Formed as a separate business unit within RTI, TAL has provided maintenance trainers for the US Army's ground vehicles since the early 1990s. TAL designs, manufactures and delivers full-scale, high-fidelity maintenance trainers as well as virtual desktop trainers for a range of variants of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Abrams tanks and the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
RTI is a leading independent, nonprofit research and development organization. It provides innovative research and technical services to governments and businesses worldwide in the fields of health and pharmaceuticals, education and training, surveys and statistics, advanced technology, international development, economic and social policy, energy and the environment and laboratory and chemistry services.
