Canada Bread Company, Limited, a TSE-listed Ontario public corporation controlled by Maple Leaf Foods Inc., completed the acquisition of the 75 per cent of Multi-Marques Inc. not already owned by it. Multi-Marques Inc. is a leading Quebec-based bakery business with annual sales in excess of $300 million. It also owns 60 per cent of Ben’s Ltd., with operations in Halifax, Moncton and Grand Falls, N.B. The deal closed on October 12, 2001.
