On November 4, 2006, Goldcorp Inc. of Vancouver completed its US$8.66 billion acquisition of Glamis Gold Ltd. Of Reno, Nevada, a premier intermediate gold producer with low cost mines and development projects in Nevada, Mexico and Central America. The acquisition of Glamis results in Goldcorp becoming the world's third-largest gold mining company by market capitalization and fifth largest by gold production with a reported value of approximately US$21.3 billion.
