Television broadcaster Groupe TVA Inc. announced on January 17, 2000 that it will acquire all the shares of Trustar Inc., a niche publishing company based in Montreal, for a total value of $46 million paid in a combination of stock and cash. Trustar publishes a number of French-language magazines, including “7 jours” and “Dernière heure”, and is the market leader in Quebec. The move is part of TVA’s strategy to become an integrated communication and entertainment company.
