On November 24, 2005, Hamilton Health Sciences Corp. (HHS) and TELUS Sourcing Solutions Inc. (TSS) entered into a 15-year, approximately $137 million, business process outsourcing agreement for the delivery of specified human resource (HR) services by TSS to HHS.
This unique arrangement will also see the establishment of a TELUS Centre of Excellence in Ontario, enabling the two organizations to cooperatively develop, test and evaluate new human resource system solutions that can be offered to other healthcare and public sector organizations in the province.
HHS encompasses five unique hospitals and a cancer centre. It is the largest hospital in Ontario, serving more than 2.3 million residents of Hamilton and central-south Ontario. HHS offers a complete range of acute and specialized healthcare services.
The agreement will allow HHS to focus on its core business—delivering excellent patient and family centered care. It will also enable HHS to take advantage of pioneering Internet Protocol and human resource technology, infrastructure and best practices, without the upfront capital investment.
HHS was represented by Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP with a team composed of Gary Graham, managing partner in Hamilton, and Samantha Alfonzo. TSS was represented by Michel Belec, associate general counsel, and Rodger Madden, senior counsel.
