Stikeman Elliott represented CIBC World Markets as Canadian counsel to the underwriters for Hollinger Inc. on a cross-border MJDS debt offering (senior notes). The preliminary prospectus was filed in Canada and the US on December 23rd. The Stikeman Elliott team was comprised of Ken Ottenbreit (corporate/securities) and Louis Samson in the firm’s New York office and Kevin B. Kelly (tax) in the firm’s Toronto office. Hollinger Inc. was represented by Beth DeMerchant of Torys. Hollinger’s U.S. counsel was Cravath Swaine & Moore.
