On December 31, 2004, the transactions whereby Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc. acquired all of the shares of BLC-Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management Inc., which were previously held by Laurentian Bank of Canada as to 50.1 per cent and by La Compagnie Financière Edmond de Rothschild Banque as to 49.9 per cent, were completed for a purchase price consisting of an initial amount of $69 million paid on December 31, 2004, and a final amount of $8 million payable in five years, subject to certain conditions and adjustments. BLC-Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management had assets under management of $1.78 billion.
