Stikeman Elliott is acting for Nesbitt Burns Inc., and other underwriters, in the initial public offering of common shares of Industrial-Alliance Life Insurance Company in conjunction with Industrial-Alliance’s conversion from a mutual life insurance company to a share capital insurance company. McCarthy Tétrault is representing Industrial-Alliance. The Stikeman Elliott team is comprised of Marc B. Barbeau, Marie-France Nantel and Philippe DeMontigny with Frederick Harvey providing the tax advice. The McCarthy Tétrault team is comprised of J. Michel Deschamps, Daniel Bénay and Bruno Caron. The offering is scheduled to close in February of 2000.
