On April 26, 2001, John Hancock Canadian Corporation (JHCC) completed an initial public offering by short form prospectus of $220 million 6.672 per cent unsecured senior notes due May 31, 2011. The offering was underwritten by a syndicate led by BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. that included CIBC World Markets Inc., RBC Dominion Securities Inc., Scotia Capital Inc. and TD Securities Inc. The notes are unconditionally guaranteed as to payment of principal, premium (if any), interest and certain other amounts by John Hancock Financial Services, Inc. (JHFS) of Boston, Massachusetts.
