Kingsway Acquires Mendota Insurance

On April 1, 2007, Mississauga, Ontario-based Kingsway Financial Services Inc., through a wholly owned subsidiary, acquired Mendota Insurance Company and its subsidiaries, Mendakota Insurance Company and Mendakota Insurance Agency, Inc. from The Travelers Companies, Inc. Mendota is headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. It is licensed in 43 states and in 2006 wrote approximately $175 million of non-standard automobile insurance business in 20 states through a network of about 6,000 independent agencies. The purchase price and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kingsway and its subsidiaries were represented by Fogler, Rubinoff LLP. The Fogler team included Michael Slan, Lisa Katz Jones and Karen Rosen.
