LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services Purchases BC Biomedical Laboratories

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services (“LifeLabs”) completed its purchase of the assets and business of BC Biomedical Laboratories Ltd. (“BC Biomedical”) on April 1, 2013 for an undisclosed price. The transaction required and received the approval of the Canadian Federal Competition Bureau, the British Columbia provincial government and the securityholders of BC Biomedical.

LifeLabs and BC Biomedical are the leading providers of high-quality diagnostic lab services in British Columbia (LifeLabs is also a leading provider of such services in Ontario). They provide their services to British Columbians through community-based patient service centers (125 combined), homecare and long-term care visits, and dedicated laboratory testing facilities that conduct more than 25 million laboratory tests a year in British Columbia. LifeLabs also helps doctors diagnose, monitor and treat their patients through diagnostic testing which includes providing service to in-home and long term care patients as part of its commitment to providing lab services to some of British Columbia's most vulnerable patients.
