Maple Leaf Foods Completes Private Placement

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. (MLFI) completed a private placement of US$207 million 5.21 per cent senior guaranteed notes, series E due December 8, 2011, US$98 million 5.61 per cent senior guaranteed notes, series F due December 8, 2014, US$7 million 5.76 per cent senior guaranteed notes, series G due December 8, 2016, C$105 million 6.06 per cent senior guaranteed notes, series H due December 8, 2014 and C$20 million 6.22 per cent senior guaranteed notes, series I due December 8, 2016 to a group of US and Canadian institutional investors. The notes are guaranteed by various subsidiaries of MLFI. The deal closed on December 8, 2004. Contemporaneously, MLFI increased the amount of its revolving credit facilities and extended the maturity thereof.
