Maritime Life Purchases Royal & Sun Alliance Life

On June 18, 2001, The Maritime Life Assurance Company entered into an agreement for the purchase of all shares of Royal & SunAlliance Life Assurance Company of Canada from RSA Overseas Holdings B.V. and Roins Holding Limited. The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the late summer or early fall of this year. The deal is valued at approximately $235 million. Maritime Life Assurance Company is represented by Goodmans LLP and by in-house counsel Heather Hannon. The Goodmans LLP team is led by Daniel Gormley and also includes Meredith Roth, Jeffrey Singer and Alan Bowman.
