On August 28, 2000, Calgary-based NOVA Chemicals Corporation, Canada’s largest petrochemicals company which emerged as a stand-alone entity from the 1998 merger of NOVA Corporation and TransCanada Pipelines Limited, completed an offering of $250 million principal amount of 7.85 per cent senior unsecured notes due August 30, 2010. The debt offering, led by Merrill Lynch Canada Inc., represented NOVA’s first foray into the Canadian debt market since 1993.
