Nucor Acquires Harris Steel Group

On March 2, 2007, Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corporation acquired more than 96 per cent of the issued and outstanding common shares of Toronto based Harris Steel Group Inc. at $46.25 per common share for approximately $1.2 billion. Nucor is in the process of acquiring the remaining Harris Steel common shares in order to take the company private.

Harris Steel has several business units in volved in fabrication and distribution of steel products. Nucor and affiliates are manufacturers of steel products, with operating facilities in nineteen states.
