On March 2, 2007, Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corporation acquired more than 96 per cent of the issued and outstanding common shares of Toronto based Harris Steel Group Inc. at $46.25 per common share for approximately $1.2 billion. Nucor is in the process of acquiring the remaining Harris Steel common shares in order to take the company private.
