On December 31, 2002, Patheon Inc. completed its agreement with Aventis Pharmaceuticals Inc. to provide long-term manufacturing and supply services to Aventis and to purchase Aventis’s pharmaceutical manufacturing and development site in Cincinnati, Ohio. Based in Mississauga, Ontario, Patheon is a leading independent provider of drug development and manufacturing services in pharmaceutical outsourcing. This is Patheon’s first site acquisition in the U.S. As part of the transaction, Patheon will also take over Aventis’s responsibilities under existing service contracts with a number of third-party pharmaceutical companies. The purchase price for the facility and related inventory was approximately US$30 million.
