Osler acted for EllisDon + PCL Health Care Partners, EllisDon Capital Inc. and PCL Investments Inc, in connection with the development phase of the Trillium Health Partners' Broader Redevelopment Project – The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital.
The hospital is expected to be approximately 2.8 million square feet, which includes a new and expanded Emergency Department (ED) that will serve as the largest ED in Ontario.
Trillium Health Partners is the biggest community-based hospital network in Canada. This historic, multi-billion dollar project is critical component of Ontario’s plan to build a stronger, more resilient health care system by creating a new kind of health care that meets the growing demand of the diverse communities in Mississauga and Etobicoke.
The project is being delivered using a progressive public-private partnership approach that fosters a collaborative development of project requirements, design, pricing, schedule, and risk management, and which will, at the end of the development phase, culminate in a material debt and equity financing for the project. The project is the first progressive Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM) to be procured through Infrastructure Ontario.
Osler’s team was led by Tobor Emakpor (Commercial) and supported by Chris Bennett, Marta Rochkin and Tearney Johnson-Jones (Financial Services) and John Groenewegen and Arielle Kaplan (Corporate).
