On September 13, 2005, Place du Royaume Inc. completed an $85 million refinancing of the Place du Royaume Shopping Centre, a large regional shopping centre located in the city of Saguenay, Chicoutimi, Quebec, it recently acquired.
The loan was provided by Hypothèques CDPQ Inc. and was structured to qualify with large loan requirements for mortgage securitizations. The borrower is an indirect subsidiary of Primaris Retail Real Estate Investment Trust, a publicly traded REIT.
The borrower was represented by Devon Jones, vice-president, legal, with assistance of external counsel Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. The Blakes team included James Papadimitriou, Jim Hilton, Yannick Beaudoin, Iris Tam and Katherine Girard.
