PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) announced on April 6, 2000 that it has signed a major outsourcing deal with Nortel Networks Corporation (Nortel) valued at US$625 million. The five-year contract will see PWC integrate and manage the day-to-day operations of certain corporate services of Nortel, which encompass payroll, HR infocentres, non-production purchasing, accounts payable, capital services, employee expense reimbursement and employee training.
Neil Hirshman of Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago led the project for PWC with John Ciecimirski of PWC. Canadian aspects of the transaction for PWC were handled by Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP with a team led by C. Ian Kyer and Scott Conover of the Toronto office and that included Steve D’Arcy and Nigel Johnston (tax), Ralph Nero (labour law), David Vincent and Christine Chen (pension law), Scott Wallace and John Marsalek (corporate law). An in-house team led the project for Nortel.
