On March 10, 2006, Research In Motion Limited (RIM) announced that it acquired Ascendent Telecommunications, Inc. for an undisclosed amount through a reverse triangular merger, in which Ascendent became a wholly-owned subsidiary of RIM. Ascendent is a leading provider of software solutions that extend corporate desk phone functionality to mobile users on their wireless handset or any wireline phone.
