A wholly owned subsidiary of Société générale de financement du Québec acquired, on July 5, 2002, a 13.33 per cent undivided co-ownership interest in the Aluminerie Alouette aluminium smelter from Kobe Aluminium Canada Inc. for US$100.5 million.
