Belgium-based Sonaca SA, in collaboration with the Solidarity Fund QFL, acquired the assets and activities of National Metal Finishing NMF (Canada) Ltd. and the shares of NMF America, Inc. through its Canadian subsidiaries created for such purpose. Sonaca is an aerospace manufacturer and Solidarity Fund is a Canadian labour fund.
NMF Canada and NMF America are involved in the machining and forming of wing panels for civil aeronautics (regional and business jets) with plants in Mirabel, Quebec and Wichita, Kansas. With this acquisition, its first in North America, Sonaca is pursuing its strategy of internationalization. Sonaca will endeavour to consolidate the activities of NMF Canada and NMF America with its commercial, technical and financial support. The value of this transaction is undisclosed and it closed on November 20, 2003.
