In January 2002, Torstar Corporation and its subsidiaries completed a bank financing for $425 million by way of a club deal involving TD Bank, Bank of Montreal, The Bank of Nova Scotia and CIBC. Rick McIvor of Blake Cassels & Graydon LLP represented Torstar. The banks were represented by Jon Levin (banking) of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP.
