Transcontinental Inc. completed its acquisition of 74 community newspapers owned by Sun Media Corporation, a subsidiary of Québecor Média Inc. (QMI), in Quebec and their related web properties for $75 million.
The closing follows clearance from the Competition Bureau which required that Transcontinental offer for sale 34 of the 154 weekly newspapers in its portfolio for a 60-day period, including certain newspapers which were sold to Transcontinental as part of the transaction.
