Houston, Texas-based Weatherford International, Inc., one of the largest global providers of technology and services to the drilling and production sectors of the oil and gas industry, completed its acquisition of Energy Rentals Inc. of Red Deer, Alberta for a purchase price of US$55 million. The deal closed on December 19, 2001. The purchase price was paid in cash and in shares exchangeable for common stock of Weatherford. Weatherford’s common stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange.
