On June 21 Weyerhaeuser Company and MacMillan Bloedel Limited announced that they reached an agreement whereby Weyerhaeuser would acquire MacMillan Bloedel in a stock transaction valued at approximately $3. 59 bn. Once the transaction closes Weyerhaeuser will become a company with annual sales of approximately Cdn. $19. 5 bn. and a market capitalization of around Cdn. $24. 2 bn.
