Wheaton River Minerals Ltd. acquired a 100 per cent interest in the Amapari Gold Project in Brazil, from the EBX Group. The total consideration paid for the Amapari Gold Project was approximately US$105 million, consisting of US$25 million, 33 million Wheaton River Minerals common shares and 21.5 million Wheaton River series B common share purchase warrants. The deal closed on January 9, 2004.
