On May 4, 2004, York University closed a $100 million issuance of 5.841 per cent senior unsecured debentures due 2044. The funding will be used to finance capital projects at the Keele campus, including the construction of two academic buildings and a student residence and for general purposes of the university. The debentures have been assigned an AA(low) rating by Dominion Bond Rating Service Limited and an AA- rating by Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services.
