He has worked on cases at all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. In 1998, he received the Family Law Excellence Award from the Ontario Bar Association, Family Law section. The following year, The Law Society of Upper Canada presented him the Law Society Medal. Current Editor-in-Chief of Reports in Family Law (Carswell) and author of Epstein's This Week in Family Law (eCarswell). Admitted as arbitrator member of the ADR Institute of Ontario, Inc. Certified as a Mediator by the Ontario Association for Family Mediation. Served as counsel for the Lawyers’ Professional Indemnity Company for more than 25 years. Former Chair of the Family Law Section of the OBA, and former head of the Family Law section of LSUC’s Bar Admission Course. For many years, he lectured in Advanced Family Law at Osgoode Hall Law School and University of Toronto. Called to the Bar in 1970; appointed QC in 1981. Served as a bencher with LSUC for close to 15 years.
