Ron Dimock, a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office, is one of Canada’s leading intellectual property litigators, mediators, and arbitrators. He has appeared as counsel in many of Canada's landmark patent, trademark, and copyright cases over the course of his 40-year career—including more than 50 trials before the Federal Court and 30 appeals before the SCC and other appellate courts. Ron is certified by the LSO as a Specialist in Civil Litigation and Intellectual Property (patent, trademark, and copyright) law as well as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and IPIC. He is also a Professional Engineer (Ontario). Ron is a sought-after speaker and has written on a range of topics including Intellectual Property Disputes — Resolutions and Remedies (Thomson Reuters). For more than 20 years, he taught a master's-level IP course at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School. He also previously taught courses at Queen’s University and McGill University. Ron has been the recipient of many awards and recognitions including being repeatedly named a “Star Individual” for IP Litigation by Chambers Canada and being inducted into the LMG Hall of Fame for Life Sciences Lawyers.
