Partner and chair of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions/Private Equity Group; co-Chair of the firm's International Group; and a member of the firm's Capital Markets, Corporate/Commercial and Mining Groups. Martin practises primarily in the areas of mergers & acquisitions, takeover bids, public and private debt and equity financings, and other corporate commercial matters. He has extensive experience in cross-border and multinational matters (principally in the US and UK). Martin is co-Chair of the International Bar Association’s Professional Ethics Committee and is a member of several other IBA committees, including Closely Held and Growing Business Enterprises; Corporate and M&A Law; Securities Law; Mining Law; and Alternative Business Structures. He is a past member of the Ontario Securities Commission's Securities Advisory Committee. Martin has lectured at a number of professional seminars, is frequently interviewed by leading industry publications and has written articles on mergers, acquisitions, securities, corporate commercial law and cross-border issues. He has been recognized as a leader in his field by Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal, Best Lawyers, Martindale-Hubbell, and Lexpert®.
