Christopher Hirst is the firm’s Managing Partner, leader of the Construction + Engineering Practice, and a member of the Environmental and Insurance Practices at Alexander Holburn. His practice is focused on assisting construction industry clients in the management of procurement issues, the negotiation and drafting of contracts, the resolution of builders’ liens, and other construction-based litigation. He provides environmental advice to clients, including a major Canadian energy company, and he defends design professionals in a broad range of error and omission claims. He is a frequent speaker and writer on legal issues of interest to the construction and business communities. He is the co-author of the Annotated British Columbia Builders Lien Act, 2007–2008, 3rd ed., published by the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, and a contributing author to the BC Builders Lien Practice Manual. He has been recognized by The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory since 2015 for Construction Law and is Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers. Chris was named 2023 Best Lawyers in Canada Construction Law, Vancouver “Lawyer of the Year”. Benchmark Canada recognizes him as a litigation star for construction, environmental, general commercial and insurance law.
