Don is a partner in the Corporate Department and a member of the firm’s Oil & Gas Practice Group and its China Practice Group. He has 40 years of experience, in Canada and internationally, in asset and share sales and acquisitions, LNG and oil sands development, production sharing contracts, production and facilities construction and operating matters, production sale contracts, financings, joint ventures, limited partnerships and farmouts. He is also a member of the firm's Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment Practice Group, with considerable experience in Investment Canada Act matters. He has contributed to several Canadian Energy Law Foundation and Association of International Petroleum Negotiators seminars and has taught courses for Insight, the Conference Board, the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University and the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen. Don has been recognized as one of Canada’s leading energy lawyers by Lexpert®, Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business, as well as other publications for several years running. He was called to the Alberta Bar in 1979.
