Catherine (Cat) Lovrics is a Partner at Marks & Clerk Canada, and Head of the Trademark and Copyright practice groups. Cat’s practice focuses on trademarks, copyright, personality and publicity rights, marketing and advertising law, consumer protection and data and privacy law. Cat helps national and multinational clients protect, exploit and enforce their IP in a wide range of industries, from creative and tech to fashion and food. She manages large international trademark portfolios and has coordinated global clearance, filing, enforcement, and anti-counterfeiting programs. She advises on brand protection and management, including with respect to brand collaborations, endorsement and influencer deals, merchandising, licensing and enforcement. Cat is valued for her unique breadth and depth of expertise, and when advising clients, she considers not only the nuances of trademark law, but also relevant copyright, marketing and advertising, and regulatory factors. Cat is active in the legal community. For example, she is currently on the Board of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC), is a sub-committee chair and member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and serves on the Ad Standards Council presiding over consumer advertising complaints in Canada.
