Parna Sabet-Stephenson is a partner and Trustee of Gowling WLG and leads the firm’s Financial Services & Technology (FSxT). Her practice focuses on all aspects of outsourcing, tech law, e-commerce, and complex bespoke commercial relationships. Assisting domestic and international customers and service providers in a range of industries, Parna advises on the legal implications of emerging technologies, technology transformation and digitization projects and has extensive experience negotiating and drafting outsourcing, joint venture, tech, complex services and collaboration agreements. She also assists clients with a range of commercial agreements in the financial services sector, including those pertaining to payment systems and processing, data sharing, open banking, fintech partnerships, mobile wallets, and embedded insurance. Intact Financial Corporation, through a wholly owned subsidiary, completed its acquisition of all of the issued and outstanding shares of Canadian Direct Insurance Inc. from Canadian Western Bank. The acquisition was financed by IFC exclusively with excess capital. The acquisition enhances IFC’s position in Canada by extending its direct-to-consumer operations from coast to coast.
