Don Alberga

Don J. Alberga is a partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Montreal. He practises in the area of employment and labour law, with a focus on workers' compensation and occupational health and safety matters. He is recognized as a preeminent lawyer in the area of occupational health and safety. Mr. Alberga acts as legal counsel to several safety groups in Quebec in the manufacturing sector, the food industry and the retail trade. He defends management interests in matters of occupational injuries, financing and prevention-inspection. He also represents employers in cases under the jurisdiction of the Tribunal administratif du travail as well as in hearings of CNESST penal offence prosecutions in the Criminal and Penal Division of the Court of Quebec. Mr. Alberga is also regularly called upon to act in employment disputes before labour arbitration tribunals. He has often been invited to speak on occupational health and safety topics and to write articles on that subject. He also lectured on that area of law at the École du Barreau du Québec.
