Eric is a partner focusing on technology and payments law. He has extensive international experience in Toronto and Paris, France, advising on complex commercial transactions, including technology and business process outsourcings, payment systems and networks, private and public procurement, fintech, cloud computing, consumer protection, blockchain, open banking, privacy and artificial intelligence. Eric focuses on advising in the financial services industry. He is a prolific writer and speaker on technology law issues. Recognized in Chambers Global, Chambers Canada, and The Best Lawyers in Canada. Past Chair of the Information/e-Commerce section of the Ontario Bar Association. Member of the ITech Law Association, Toronto Computer Lawyers Group, and l'Association des juristes d'expression française. Eric is a registered Trademark Agent. He earned his LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1996 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998.
On June 30, 2017, Stelco Inc. (Stelco), formerly U.S. Steel Canada Inc., emerged from Companies’ Creditors Arrangements Act (CCAA) proceedings through the implementation of a CCAA plan. This involved the compromise of more than $2 billion of debt and the restructuring of approximately $2 billion of pension and benefit obligations.
