Tom Hunter is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Waterloo Region office and practises corporate, commercial, and technology law. His particular areas of focus include assisting entrepreneurs with start-up and growth-oriented companies, M&A, financing, and all aspects of technology commercialization. Tom has served as lead counsel for over $1.5 billion of successful founder monetization and exit transactions for high-tech and traditional economy clients. He serves as a director on the boards of a number of private technology companies headquartered in the Waterloo Region technology cluster. Tom is a frequent guest lecturer on matters relating to M&A, financings, corporate governance, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization. Tom was a contributing author to the book The Entrepreneurial Effect: Waterloo (Invenire). He is actively involved with the Institute for Quantum Computing and as a member of the Advisory Council for the Conrad Centre for Business, Entrepreneurship & Technology, both organizations of the University of Waterloo. Tom has long been recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory and The Best Lawyers in Canada.
