Todd Bissett is a partner in Gowling WLG's Waterloo Region office. He is a widely experienced business, technology, and international transactions lawyer, licensed in California and Ontario, having previously practised in Silicon Valley and Greater China. His emerging growth practice focuses on the complete life cycle of startup companies, from formation and organization through equity and debt financings, M&A, and complex business combinations. He works extensively with major institutional and strategic investors, investment funds, and companies from early-stage startups to multinational public and private organizations. In his international practice, he advises on complex, cross-border transactions and business arrangements. He has broad industry experience but is largely industry-agnostic in his work, generally serving as primary counsel to his clients and leveraging specialized colleagues as client needs dictate. He advises early-stage companies on a pro bono basis in association with several accelerator and incubator programs. Recognized in The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory and the Legal 500 Canada, he received the Best Lawyers® 2022 Corporate "Lawyer of the Year" award in the Waterloo region.
