Brent Olthuis, KC, is an experienced litigator handling a broad range of commercial and public law disputes. Brent is increasingly in demand as a "first instance" litigator, in the trial courts and before various administrative tribunals, and also maintains a robust appellate and judicial review practice. Brent has been recognized in numerous third-party publications, including Chambers, Best Lawyers, Who’s Who Legal, Benchmark Litigation, The Legal 500 Canada and Martindale-Hubbell (where he has achieved the AV/Preeminent rating). Brent has published peer-reviewed articles on substantive and procedural topics, and authors the "Professional Conduct" chapter in Canadian Legal Practice. He is also a regular faculty member for professional development programming offered by The Advocates’ Society and CLEBC. Brent is a leader at the Bar. He presently serves as a CLEBC director, and previously served in the same capacity for the BC Law Institute, and as an elected CBABC Provincial Council representative. Prior to entering practice, Brent served as law clerk to Chief Justice McMurtry and Justices Doherty and Sharpe of the Court of Appeal for Ontario and to Justice Frank Iacobucci of the Supreme Court of Canada. He was made King's Counsel as part of BC's 2022 cohort.
